Rawalpindi: General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), presided over the 83rd Formation Commanders Conference at GHQ, marking a pivotal moment for the Pakistan Army as it navigates the complexities of national security and regional stability. The conference brought together Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army to deliberate on strategic imperatives and operational readiness.
In a solemn tribute, the forum offered Fatiha for the Shuhadas, acknowledging the ultimate sacrifices made by officers, soldiers, law enforcement personnel, and civilians for the safety, security, and sovereignty of Pakistan.
Key discussions centered on the evolving geo-strategic landscape and emerging national security challenges. The participants reviewed the Army’s strategy to counter multi-domain threats, emphasizing the importance of technological advancements and logistical optimization to enhance operational capabilities.
The forum voiced serious concerns over ongoing cross-border violations and terrorism emanating from Afghan territory, highlighting the adversarial use of Afghan soil to target Pakistani security forces and civilians. The sacrifices of the Newly Merged Districts’ (NMDs) populace in the fight against terrorism were lauded, with an emphasis on the critical need for their socio-economic uplift to decisively counter terrorism.
Addressing the socio-economic dynamics in Balochistan, the forum stressed the need to counter foreign-sponsored narratives of exclusion aimed at derailing the province’s youth from the path of peace and progress. The imperative of socio-economic development was underscored as a means to integrate Balochistan more robustly into the national fabric.
In light of the volatile situation on the Eastern Border, the forum expressed unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination, as enshrined in UNSC Resolutions. Concerns were raised over the treatment of minorities, particularly Muslims, in India, and the forum decried the rising tide of fascism exploiting these groups for political gains. Solidarity with the Palestinian people was also reiterated, with a condemnation of human rights violations and war crimes in Gaza, aligning with the International Court of Justice’s stance.

The forum addressed the issue of digital terrorism and misinformation campaigns targeting state institutions, aimed at sowing discord among national entities and the populace. It resolved to counter these efforts with resilience and highlighted the necessity of bringing the planners and perpetrators of the May 9th incidents to justice for national stability.
The Pakistan Army’s support for government initiatives aimed at sustainable economic growth and combating illegal activities was reaffirmed. Efforts to curb smuggling, hoarding, and electricity theft, along with the implementation of the One Document Regime and the dignified repatriation of illegal foreigners, were endorsed.
COAS General Munir praised the high standards of training and operational excellence displayed by formations in various exercises and counter-terrorism operations. He commended the troops’ morale and readiness, affirming satisfaction with the Army’s measures for the welfare of serving and retired personnel.
The conference concluded with a collective resolve to neutralize all threats to Pakistan’s security and stability, bolstered by the unwavering support of the nation. The forum celebrated the significant milestone of Youm-e-Takbir, acknowledging its stabilizing impact on the region and reinforcing the Army’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty.
