PIMS Dismisses Over 100 Nursing Staff Amid Contract Dispute
These nurses were initially hired on a two-year contract during the PTI government.
Islamabad: More than 100 nursing staff at PIMS Hospital, recruited under the Federal Medical Teaching Institutes (FMTI) Act, have been abruptly dismissed and ordered to vacate their hostel accommodations on verbal instructions.
The nurses, who have been working without pay for four months based on oral assurances of contract extensions, protested the abrupt and rude dismissal with only a day’s notice. They claim the hospital management is planning to replace them with untrained personnel.
PIMS Executive Director Rana Imran Sikander stated that the nurses’ contracts had expired and the issue is now stalled between the Establishment Division and the Health Department.
