PIA Hajj Flight Makes Precautionary Landing in Riyadh Due to False Cargo Alarm

Riyadh: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Hajj flight scheduled to land in Jeddah was diverted to Riyadh Airport on Friday night due to a high-temperature warning in the cargo hold. Passengers reported hearing an alarm, but PIA officials confirmed it was a false alert.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the flight, PK 839, departed Karachi at 10 pm and during the flight, an alarm indicated a potential temperature issue in the cargo cabin. As a precaution and standard protocol, the pilots diverted the aircraft to Riyadh, the nearest suitable airport.

Passengers were safely disembarked and taken to the terminal while engineers inspected the aircraft. The high-temperature warning was determined to be a malfunction, and the flight was cleared to continue its journey to Jeddah.
