PIA Flight PK-222 Aborts Takeoff After Tire Burst in Dubai
172 passengers safely evacuated; emergency brake prevents injuries
PIA flight PK-222, en route from Dubai to Multan, encountered a major issue when all of the aircraft’s tires burst during takeoff.
After the incident, all 172 passengers were safely moved to the airport lounge.
A PIA spokesperson stated that while preparing for takeoff, the crew received a warning about an engine malfunction.
The experienced captain quickly engaged the emergency brake system, bringing the aircraft to a stop without any injuries.
To address the technical issue, engineering staff from Karachi will be flown to Dubai on a night flight.
Some passengers will be flown from Dubai to Lahore on flight PK-204 tonight, while others will travel to Multan on a PIA flight from Sharjah.
The airline emphasized that passenger safety is a top priority and assured that efforts are being made to handle the situation efficiently.
