PHF Finalises Merit-Based Criteria For World Cup Camp

PHF Introduces Transparent Selection Criteria For Pakistan Hockey World Cup Camp

ISLAMABAD: (Sports Reporter) – The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has finalized a proposed merit-based selection framework for the Pakistan Senior Men’s National Team World Cup Camp, aiming to ensure a transparent, fair and performance-focused selection process.

According to a PHF statement, players will be evaluated across five key areas: tactical understanding, technical skills, physical fitness, mental strength and overall attitude.

During trials and training sessions, the coaching staff will assess each player on a scale of one to five in every category.

Under the proposed system, players must achieve a score of at least three in a minimum of three out of the five evaluation categories to qualify for selection in the National Team World Cup Camp.

The PHF said the assessment model has been developed by its international coaching staff using global best practices, continuous player monitoring and detailed technical analysis.

To strengthen transparency and accountability, the evaluation process will also include digital evidence such as GPS tracking data and video analytics to support performance assessments.

The proposed selection criteria will now be submitted to the PHF Selection Committee and the federation’s president for final approval before being implemented.

The federation said the initiative reflects its commitment to selecting the country’s top hockey talent through a fair, objective and data-driven process as preparations continue for the upcoming Hockey World Cup.
