PHF Names Flying Horse Samiullah as Chief Selector
Islamabad: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially appointed legendary player Samiullah, also known as Flying Horse Samiullah, as the Chief Selector for the Pakistan Men’s Hockey Team. The recommendation came from the PHF Professional Development Committee, which includes iconic Olympians Hasan Sardar and Islahuddin Siddiqui.
This strategic move is part of the PHF’s broader roadmap aimed at revitalizing hockey in Pakistan, with a focus on grassroots development, high-performance training, and enhancing international competitiveness.
The federation has outlined a comprehensive plan, which includes establishing a new team structure with a Selection Committee, Head Coach, and support staff; designing a calendar for domestic and international competitions; offering technical education for coaches, officials, and umpires; and organizing talent hunts to identify promising young players.
PHF also plans to promote hockey in schools and colleges, revive inter-school and inter-collegiate tournaments, and establish a high-performance center to nurture elite talent.

The federation emphasized its intent to work closely with stakeholders, sponsors, and the hockey community to implement this roadmap and restore Pakistan’s status as a global hockey powerhouse.
