Petrol Levy rises to Rs117.41 Per Litre in Pakistan

Pakistan Raises Petrol Prices Again As Levies Burden Consumers Further

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk)– Fuel prices in Pakistan have surged once again, pushing petrol and diesel rates above Rs414 per litre after the latest government revision. The sharp increase has added further pressure on inflation-hit consumers already struggling with rising living costs.

According to the latest notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the new prices came into effect from midnight. Petrol price witnessed an increase of Rs14.92 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs414.78 compared to the previous Rs399.86. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel became costlier by Rs15 per litre and is now being sold at Rs414.58 per litre.

Transport fare up by 4% after hike in petroleum prices

Officials said the latest hike is not solely linked to fluctuations in global crude oil markets. A significant factor behind the increase is the rise in petroleum levies imposed by the government. Authorities increased the petroleum levy on petrol by Rs13.91 per litre, raising the total levy to Rs117.41 per litre. The same amount was added to diesel levy, which now stands at Rs42.60 per litre.

Economic analysts believe the continued rise in fuel prices could trigger another wave of inflation across the country, affecting transportation costs, food prices and other essential commodities. The latest revision also follows the previous increase announced on April 29, when diesel prices were raised by Rs19.39 per litre.
