PEPCO Revises Electricity Tariffs with Unit Reductions

Domestic Consumers See Adjusted Unit Rates and Fixed Charges

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk)- The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) have announced revised electricity tariffs for domestic consumers, implementing unit-wise reductions along with fixed monthly charges across different usage levels.

Under the new rates, electricity users consuming 301 to 400 units will see a reduction of Rs 1.53 per unit, those using 401 to 500 units will receive Rs 1.25 per unit off, 501 to 600 units will have a Rs 1.40 per unit reduction, 601 to 700 units will get Rs 0.91 off per unit, and consumers using above 700 units will benefit from a reduction of Rs 0.49 per unit.

In addition, fixed monthly charges have been introduced for both protected and non-protected consumers. Protected consumers using up to 100 units will pay Rs 200 per month, while those using up to 200 units will be charged Rs 300. Non-protected consumers consuming up to 100 units will pay Rs 275 per month, up to 200 units Rs 300, up to 300 units Rs 350, 301 to 400 units Rs 400, and 401 to 500 units Rs 500. For higher consumption, fixed charges have been adjusted to Rs 675 for 600 units, reflecting an increase of Rs 75, while 700 units will be charged Rs 675, a reduction of Rs 125.

Authorities emphasized that these adjustments aim to maintain affordability for domestic users while ensuring the sustainability of electricity distribution. The revised tariffs take effect immediately for all domestic consumers served by the relevant power distribution companies.
