PDMA Warns of Imminent Flash Floods
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert due to the forecast of intensified monsoon rains over the next 24 hours. This weather is expected to lead to flash floods in several districts, with the Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur divisions being at particular risk.
Recent rainfall has been significant, with Mangla receiving 147 mm, Mandi Bahauddin 78 mm, and Jhelum 76 mm. Other areas such as Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, and Narowal have also seen considerable rainfall, with measurements of 40 mm, 35 mm, and 24 mm respectively.

The current monsoon season has already resulted in 105 fatalities and 260 injuries due to lightning strikes, electrocution, and the collapse of old buildings. Additionally, 89 cattle have died as a result of the heavy rains.
Authorities are advising residents in affected areas to take all necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their property as the monsoon weather continues to pose significant risks.
