PDMA Alerts Punjab for Heavy Rains in the Coming 24 Hours
Heavy rainfall hit several areas of Lahore, offering much-needed relief from the intense heat and congestion. Localities such as Model Town, Faisal Town, Gulberg, Akbar Chowk, Jail Road, Gurumangat Road, Kalma Chowk, and FC College received showers.
As a result of the rain, temperatures in the city have dropped, bringing cooler weather. The current temperature stands at 25°C, and according to the Meteorological Department, sporadic rainfall is expected to continue.
Other regions in Punjab, including Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, and Tandlianwala, also saw significant rainfall. Hafizabad’s temperature dropped to 23°C, cooling the atmosphere considerably. However, waterlogging has been reported in some low-lying areas, particularly in Pindi Bhattian.

Sialkot experienced rainfall, bringing a pleasant change in weather throughout the city and surrounding areas. Khanqah Dogran also saw heavy monsoon showers, which significantly cooled the weather.
In other parts of Punjab, notable rainfall amounts were recorded in Faisalabad (64mm), Sheikhupura (42mm), Sargodha (25mm), Chakwal (22mm), Mandi Bahauddin (22mm), and Sahiwal (9mm). Additionally, Murree, Narowal, Jhang, Kasur, Joharabad, and Okara received light to moderate rain.
In response to the widespread rainfall, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert, warning that the monsoon rains are expected to persist until October 1. A PDMA spokesperson highlighted that heavy rains are forecasted across most parts of the province within the next 24 hours.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia directed deputy commissioners throughout Punjab to remain vigilant and prepared for any emergencies. Despite the ongoing rains, Kathia confirmed that water levels in Punjab’s rivers and canals are currently stable.
