PDMA Alert: Heavy Stormy Rain For Punjab From Oct 5 – 7

PDMA issues a rain and flood alert for Punjab, urging residents to stay cautious and follow safety guidelines.

Punjab – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk)  The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued rain advisory for the province’s upper regions, saying that strong stormy rains are likely in most districts between October and 7. Officials have warned that the downpour may increase the flow of water in rivers and canals, boosting the risk of floods.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, the upcoming spell of intense rains is likely to hit most districts in Punjab. The rains are also expected in the upper reaches of rivers, which could lead to a surge in water levels.

The authority has urged citizens to remain cautious and follow safety advisories during the forecast period.

According to PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia, the notice was issued on the directives of Punjab’s chief minister. Commissioners, deputy commissioners, and other necessary authorities have been instructed to remain watchful and prepared for emergency situations.

“All deputy commissioners and other officers should be present in the field to ensure immediate response,” she stated.

Officials have highlighted that the anticipated downpour will likely increase the flow of water in Punjab’s rivers and canals. This may create challenges for local communities, especially in low-lying areas.

The PDMA stressed the importance of early preparedness and instructed authorities to coordinate closely to manage any possible flooding situation.
