PCB withdraws from T20 World Cup match vs India
Pakistan skips T20 World Cup India match citing national dignity
LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally notified the International Cricket Council (ICC) that it will not participate in its scheduled T20 World Cup 2026 match against India. According to reports, Pakistan’s withdrawal will cost the team two points under ICC rules and negatively impact its net run rate.
However, India will not automatically receive the points; the Indian team must complete official protocols, including traveling to Colombo for a practice session, attending a press conference, touring the stadium, and waiting for Pakistan’s team at the scheduled time.

The decision has sparked intense reactions in India, with media outlets and cricket analysts expressing outrage. Pro-government channels have reportedly called for strict measures against Pakistan, including potential sanctions. The ICC is said to be considering an emergency board meeting to address the situation and discuss possible punitive actions.
Pakistani officials, however, have stood firm, emphasizing that the decision reflects national dignity and aligns with the spirit of the game. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated a strong and unwavering position on the matter.
