DUBAI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly agreed to a conditional hybrid model for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, according to Indian media sources. The agreement, however, comes with several conditions that the PCB insists must be met for the model to be implemented.
Under the proposed model, if India refuses to play its matches in Pakistan, the PCB demands that Pakistan be allowed to play its matches at neutral venues during events held in India. Additionally, the PCB has stated that if India fails to qualify for the tournament, the semi-finals and final should be relocated to Pakistan. The Emirates Cricket Board, which is likely to host some of the matches, will also share gate revenue with the PCB for games played in the UAE.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, speaking in Dubai, emphasized the importance of ensuring fairness and equality in decision-making, stressing that the development of cricket and the interests of Pakistan should be the top priorities. Naqvi also called for a balanced framework for future ICC events, one that reflects mutual respect and equal treatment for all teams.
