Won’t tolerate a word against ex-army Chief Bajwa in future;CM Punjab

Moonis re-assures Imran Khan of party’s cooperation,

LAHORE – In an unexpected move, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Sunday openly supported former Army Chief retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, saying he and his party would counter any propaganda against the general.

In a statement on Sunday, He claimed that Gen (retired) Faiz Hameed had started targeting them [PML-Q] and later he [Faiz] revealed to the former Army Chief that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was behind the move.

“Gen Bajwa is our benefactor so we shouldn t criticise him. To me, Gen Bajwa has coutless blessings on them [PTI],” Elahi further said.

Taking a jibe at the PTI chief, the PML-Q leader said Imran Khan used to ignore his son Moonis Elahi during meetings. Despite that the PML-Q always sided with the PTI. He said the PML-Q endorsed Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve the Punjab Assembly, but we could not stab our benefactors in the back.

Meanwhile,

Moonis Elahi on Sunday took PTI Chairman Imran Khan into confidence over the statement of his father CM Punjab Ch Pervaiz Elahi,.

The former federal minister Moonis Elahi paid a surprise visit to PTI Chairman’s residence here at Zaman Park and tried to clarify the situation created after the interview of Moonis Elahi on a private channel.

PTI central leader Fawad Chaudhry was also present in the meeting. The meeting lasted only for twenty minutes in which Imran Khan expressed his displeasure over Pervaiz Elahi’s statement.  The sources said that Moonis Elahi again assured the PTI Chairman of the party’s cooperation. Both leaders agreed to continue working to strengthen the political ties.

It is pertinent that Pervaiz Elahi while giving an interview to a local TV expressed his annoyance with the former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan over his continuous criticism of former army chief Gen (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa. Punjab CM Elahi said that he had urged PTI chief to avoid criticism of Gen (r) Bajwa during his yesterday’s Liberty Chowk rally speech. Imran Khan criticised Gen Bajwa in his Lahore speech during my presence which is an injustice to me,” he added.
