Pakistan’s trade deficit grows by $2.32bn in first quarter
Pakistan’s trade deficit widens sharply as imports surge and exports struggle.
PBS – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Thursday that the country’s trade deficit increased by $2.32 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
Pakistan’s trade imbalance increased to $9.36 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (July-September), up 33 percent from $7 billion in the same time last year.
Exports declined 3.83 percent to $7.6 billion, while imports increased 14.39 percent to $16.97 billion.Exports in September 2025 totaled $2.5 billion, up 3.64 percent from $2.41 billion in August 2025. However, compared to
September 2024, exports fell by 11.71 percent, with the previous year’s amount exceeding $2.83 billion.
In September 2025, imports topped $5.84 billion.

The monthly trade imbalance reached $3.34 billion, representing a 16.33% rise over the previous month. The deficit increased by 46 percent year on year as compared to September 2024.
