Pakistan’s Title Hopes Dashed: Sri Lanka A Win Semi-Final
Sri Lanka A secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over Pakistan Shaheens at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Friday.
Pakistan Shaheens, opting to bat first, struggled to post a modest 135-9 in 20 overs. Omair Yousuf’s blistering 46-ball 68, laced with five boundaries and four sixes, was the lone bright spot in an otherwise lackluster batting display.
Yasir Khan (2), Mohammad Haris (6), Qasim Akram (0), Haider Ali (14), Arafat Minhas (10), Abdul Samad (0), Abbas Afridi (9), and Mohammad Imran (13) failed to provide significant resistance. Sufiyan Muqeem (4) and Shahnawaz Dahani (0) remained unbeaten.
Sri Lanka A’s bowling attack, led by Dusan Hemantha (4-21), stifled the Shaheens. Nipun Ransika (2-21) and Eshan Malinga (2-28) claimed two wickets apiece.
In response, Ahan Wickramasinghe and Lahiru Udara’s batting prowess powered Sri Lanka A to victory inside 17 overs.
This win marks a turnaround for Sri Lanka A, who had lost two previous matches to the Shaheens.
The victory showcased Sri Lanka A’s resilience and ability to bounce back from adversity.
