Punjab Launches Pakistan’s First Agriculture Food and Drug Authority

Lahore: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s first Agriculture Food and Drug Authority has been established in Punjab. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the authority in Lahore and addressed the opening ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister termed the establishment of the authority a significant step toward ensuring public health standards. He praised the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, stating that the Food and Drug Authority has been created not only for Punjab but to serve the entire country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the authority will play a vital role in food security, nutrition, and eliminating adulteration. He emphasized that the creation of a regulatory body for transparent monitoring of food, agricultural products, and medicines was the need of the hour.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that despite being an agricultural country, the absence of world-class testing laboratories was alarming. She noted that the lack of modern labs had been causing losses to both exporters and consumers.

During the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, also inaugurated a hostel for women scientists, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting women in science and research.
