Pakistan’s Animated Film The Glassworker Selected for 2025 Oscars

Pakistan’s first 2D animated feature film, **The Glassworker**, has been selected as the country’s official entry for the International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars.

Director Usman Riaz announced the news on social media, stating, “We are thrilled to share that **The Glassworker** has been chosen as Pakistan’s submission for the International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars. This is a historic moment, as it is the first 2D hand-drawn animated film from Pakistan to receive this prestigious recognition.”

Riaz expressed his gratitude, saying, “The Glassworker embodies a decade of dedication and hard work. I feel truly honored by this selection and hope that our story connects with audiences globally, highlighting the talent and creativity that Pakistan has to offer.”

He also mentioned that the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee conveyed their excitement, remarking, “Usman and Mano’s work showcases exceptional storytelling and artistry, paving the way for animation in Pakistan. This milestone will be a significant part of our cinematic legacy.”
