ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the Player of the Month nominees for October, with Noman Ali representing Pakistan.

The seasoned spinner has been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month following a stellar Test series performance against South Africa — once again highlighting his value as one of the country’s most reliable match-winners.

Noman was at the heart of Pakistan’s 93-run victory in Lahore, producing a memorable 10-wicket haul to dismantle the South African batting lineup. Across the two-Test series, the left-arm spinner claimed 14 wickets at an average of 23.07, reinforcing his reputation as one of the world’s most consistent red-ball bowlers.

Currently ranked No. 3 in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, Noman’s relentless accuracy and composure under pressure earned him praise from former cricketers and fans alike. His spells not only set up Pakistan’s win in Lahore but also kept the home side competitive in the Rawalpindi Test, despite his team’s eventual loss.

Joining Noman Ali on the ICC Player of the Month nominee list is South Africa’s Senuran Muthusamy, who impressed with both bat and ball — taking 11 wickets and scoring a match-saving 89 in the second Test. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan completes the trio, continuing his all-format dominance by leading Afghanistan to a 3-0 ODI series sweep over Bangladesh.

For Pakistan cricket followers, Noman’s third nomination for the award symbolizes more than personal success — it reflects the country’s enduring legacy in spin bowling, from Abdul Qadir to Saeed Ajmal, and now the Sindh-born maestro carrying the tradition forward.
