A New Chapter: Shabana Mahmood Makes History as UK Home Secretary
UK – Correspondent / Web Desk) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has chosen Shabana Mahmood as the UK’s new Home Secretary. This important job makes her the minister in charge of the country’s police and laws.
Mahmood, whose family is from Pakistan, is the first Muslim to ever hold this top position. At 44 years old, she is now the most senior Muslim politician in the UK. She has been a lawmaker since 2010 and is a former lawyer.
This change was part of a bigger shuffle of the prime minister’s team. It happened after his deputy, Angela Rayner, had to step down for breaking a government rule.
