Pakistani Nurses Offered Job Opportunities in Germany Amid Staff Shortage

The bureau clarified that nursing degrees or diplomas from Pakistan are not automatically recognised in Germany.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani nurses have been offered an opportunity to work in Germany as the European country faces an acute shortage of trained nursing staff, the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) said on Sunday.

According to the BEOE, Pakistani nurses holding a valid diploma or degree are eligible to apply for nursing positions in Germany. However, the first and most important step is obtaining official recognition of their educational and professional qualifications from German authorities.

The bureau clarified that nursing degrees or diplomas from Pakistan are not automatically recognised in Germany. Each application is assessed individually, with authorities reviewing the applicant’s curriculum, duration of training, and practical skills. Applicants are generally required to hold a recognised nursing qualification and demonstrate German language proficiency up to the B2 level.

If significant differences are found between Pakistani and German nursing standards, candidates may be asked to complete additional training or pass a knowledge-based assessment.

The BEOE advised interested nurses to seek guidance only through the official German government portal, which provides complete information on whether nursing is a regulated profession, the relevant provincial authority, and the detailed steps for qualification recognition. A link to the official portal has also been shared to facilitate applicants.
