Pakistani Citizen Returns Home After Spending 25 Years in Indian Jail

Pakistani man Asghar Ali returns home after 25 years in Indian prison, welcomed warmly by his hometown community.

RAHIM YAR KHAN – (Web Desk) – A Pakistani man, Asghar Ali, has finally returned home after spending 25 years in an Indian prison. The resident of Chak 170-P near Sadiqabad accidentally crossed into Indian Territory while hunting in 2000. He was immediately detained by Indian authorities and later faced charges of terrorism and espionage.

Although an Indian court initially sentenced him to imprisonment until 2010, new allegations were reportedly made against him, keeping him behind bars even after his original sentence ended. After a long legal battle, Ali appealed to the Indian Supreme Court, which ordered his release. Upon returning to Pakistan, he was warmly welcomed by the local community.

Following his freedom, he returned to his hometown of Chak 170-P in Sadiqabad after 25 years, where residents gave him a grand and emotional welcome.
