Lahore: Pakistani baseball team is currently ranked sixth in Asia. After the successful organization of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Baseball League, the Pakistan Federation Baseball has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts to host an international baseball league in Pakistan. Players from five countries, including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and American-Palestinian players, have expressed their willingness to participate in the league.

The Secretary-General of the Pakistan Federation Baseball, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, who is also the Vice President of the Baseball Federation of Asia and a member of the World Body, said that the league will be organized with the support of officials from the United States, Japan, and Canada, and will feature 40 foreign players. The participating teams will be named after Pakistan’s four major cities.

Syed Fakhar Ali Shah has requested the Pakistani media to promote the league extensively to increase awareness and interest in baseball, which is gaining popularity in Pakistan. He also highlighted that the Pakistani baseball team is currently ranked sixth in Asia and is working to improve its global ranking.

“He also confirmed that the event will feature international players, umpires, and national players from WBSBC member countries, particularly from West Asia and East Asia, which will further enhance the competitive standards of the league. The Pakistan Baseball Federation is determined to develop baseball in the country and our aim is to provide opportunities for players from South Asia, West Asia, and East Asia to be selected for MLB or other professional leagues. We will be a platform for all those players who are good but overlooked.”

The Executive Director, Mazam Khan Clear, has emphasized the need to focus on developing baseball at the grassroots level in Pakistan. He remarked, “We are committed to nurturing young talent to build strong Under-12 and Under-15 teams for future competitions. The credit for the progress made in baseball in Pakistan today goes to the late Syed Khawar Shah.”
