Pakistani Agriculture Delegation Explores Solar Irrigation Solutions at LONGi Headquarters in China

“We are proud to showcase how solar technologies can support efficient irrigation and sustainable agriculture,” said Eric Xin

Xi’an: A 54-member delegation of agricultural experts and scholars from Pakistan visited the headquarters of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in Xi’an, China, to explore cutting-edge solar-powered irrigation technologies. The visit, part of an academic training initiative supported by a Chinese university under the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) “Thousand Talents Plan,” focused on enhancing sustainable agricultural practices through renewable energy solutions.

With Pakistan facing ongoing challenges related to water scarcity and energy access in rural farming communities, the delegation sought to understand how solar energy can be applied to improve irrigation efficiency and agricultural productivity. LONGi introduced the visitors to a range of photovoltaic (PV) systems, including solar-powered water pump technologies tailored for agricultural use in off-grid and remote areas.

“We are proud to showcase how solar technologies can support efficient irrigation and sustainable agriculture,” said Eric Xin, Sales Director for the Central Asia region at LONGi. “The visit by the Pakistani delegation underscores the global relevance of our solutions in tackling the pressing water and energy challenges in farming.”

A member of the Pakistani delegation remarked, “Seeing firsthand how solar technology integrates with modern irrigation systems was eye-opening. It’s innovations like these that can help countries like ours address key challenges in food and energy security.”

Though LONGi was not the organizer of the training program, the company hosted the group as part of its broader commitment to educational and sectoral development. The visit highlights the growing international interest in applying solar energy to agriculture—a sector where efficiency and sustainability are increasingly vital in the face of climate change.
