Pakistan Voices Concern Over Yemen Conflict, Supports Saudi-Led Dialogue
Pakistan Calls for Peaceful Dialogue Amid Yemen Conflict Escalation
Islamabad/New York: (Web Desk) – Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Yemen, particularly the recent escalation of violence, and voiced support for dialogue efforts initiated by Saudi Arabia.
During a briefing at the UN Security Council in New York on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen. He also welcomed regional initiatives aimed at creating a conducive environment for dialogue and reconciliation.
In his address, Ambassador Asim highlighted that despite sustained diplomatic and regional efforts, the resurgence of violence threatens fragile gains and risks further instability. He emphasized that restraint and renewed commitment to dialogue are essential to put Yemen on a credible path toward peace.
Pakistan opposes unilateral actions by any Yemeni party that could escalate tensions, deepen divisions, or undermine peace efforts. The country supports a Yemeni-led political process, in line with internationally recognized frameworks, and encourages all stakeholders and regional partners to work toward an inclusive and durable political settlement.

Pakistan also praised the role of the UN Special Envoy and recent regional engagements in Riyadh, Cairo, and Muscat, echoing his view that a comprehensive political solution is the only path to lasting peace and regional stability.
Pakistan strongly condemned the arbitrary detention of UN and humanitarian personnel, the seizure of UN premises and assets in Houthi-controlled areas, and violations of international law. It called for the immediate release of all detained personnel and full respect for UN privileges and immunities.
The ambassador also highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen, noting that millions need urgent assistance amid collapsing basic services, food insecurity, and malnutrition. He stressed the need for unhindered humanitarian access and adequate funding to sustain life-saving operations.
Finally, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the Security Council’s unified efforts toward peace in Yemen and commended diplomatic initiatives by Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the UAE. Ambassador Asim reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working constructively with all Council members and standing in solidarity with the government and people of Yemen during these challenging times.
