Pakistan, UK Hold 7th Round of Dialogue on Arms Control and Disarmament
Both countries reaffirmed the value of regular consultations and agreed to hold the next round of the dialogue in Islamabad in 2026.
London – 16 July 2025: Pakistan and the United Kingdom held the 7th Round of their Dialogue on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation, and Disarmament in London, reaffirming their shared commitment to international security and strategic stability.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Additional Foreign Secretary for Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security (ACDIS) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Stephen Lillie CMG, Director of Defence and International Security at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), headed the British side.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in wide-ranging and in-depth discussions covering key global and regional security issues, strategic stability, disarmament efforts, and non-proliferation initiatives. Dialogue also addressed current developments in multilateral forums, including the United Nations General Assembly (First Committee) and the Conference on Disarmament (CD).
Further deliberations included international arms control treaties such as the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), and Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), alongside discussions on multilateral export control regimes and the implications of new and emerging technologies.
The two sides also exchanged perspectives on Pakistan-UK cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear technology, recognizing its importance for sustainable development and innovation.

Since its launch in 2015, the Pakistan-UK Dialogue on Arms Control has been a cornerstone of their broader bilateral cooperation in promoting peace, security, and responsible defence policies.
