Pakistan & UAE Forge Deeper Digital Ties, Focus on AI and Cybersecurity

ISLAMABAD/ABU DHABI – In a significant move to bolster bilateral cooperation, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have resolved to enhance collaboration in the fields of digital innovation, governance, and investment.

The commitment was solidified during a series of high-level meetings held on Tuesday, led by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

Minister Fatima met with Omar Al Suwaidi, the Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, for detailed discussions on key digital initiatives. The talks centered on digital governance frameworks and the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Specific points of discussion included Pakistan’s pioneering Digital Nation Pakistan Act, the implementation of its National Data Exchange Layer, and strategies to advance a cashless economy.

In a separate meeting with Massimo Falconi of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the focus shifted to economic opportunities. The two sides explored avenues for digital investment and technical collaboration, signaling a strong interest from UAE entities in Pakistan’s growing tech sector.
