Pakistan, UAE agree to boost investment, trade and strategic ties

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to enhance cooperation in investment, energy, infrastructure, IT, and technology, while pledging to strengthen their longstanding fraternal ties. Both countries also committed to boosting bilateral trade, promoting people-to-people connections, and working together for peace, stability, and sustainable development.

The agreements and understandings were reached during detailed talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and investment opportunities. Regional and global issues were also discussed during the high-level consultations.

President Sheikh Mohammed arrived in Islamabad on an official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He was given a grand and warm welcome at Nur Khan Airbase, where JF-17 fighter jets performed a ceremonial flypast.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir personally received the UAE President. This marks Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s first official visit to Pakistan as UAE President, an important step in further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The UAE president later left for India after his maiden visit to Pakistan.
