Pakistan U19 Gear Up for ICC U19 World Cup Super Six

Harare: (Web Desk) –  After securing a spot in the Super Six stage of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, the Pakistan U19 team participated in a focused training session at Takashinga Cricket Club on Sunday. Under head coach Shahid Anwar, players engaged in scenario-based practice sessions, with batters and bowlers working on specific targets to simulate match conditions.

The team will continue training at the same venue on Monday before beginning their Super Six campaign against New Zealand on Tuesday, 27 January, at the Harare Sports Club. Their second Super Six match is scheduled against India on Sunday, 1 February, at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Pakistan finished second in Group ‘C’ after victories over Scotland (by six wickets) and Zimbabwe (by eight wickets), suffering a 37-run defeat to England. Fielding coach Mansoor Amjad praised the team’s performance, highlighting their improved catching, agility, and ability to save crucial runs. He singled out Ahmed Hussain, Farhan Yousaf, Usman Khan, Sameer Minhas, and the wicket-keepers for exceptional fielding contributions.

The 15-member squad is led by captain Farhan Yousaf and vice-captain Usman Khan, with key players including Ahmed Hussain, Hamza Zahoor, Sameer Minhas, and Abdul Subhan. The support staff features Sarfaraz Ahmed (manager/mentor), Shahid Anwar (head coach/batting), Rao Iftikhar (bowling coach), and Mansoor Amjad (fielding coach), among others.

Pakistan’s Super Six fixtures are:

  • 27 January – vs New Zealand at Harare Sports Club

  • 1 February – vs India at Queens Sports Club

The semi-finals and final are scheduled for 3–6 February across Harare and Bulawayo venues.
