“Pakistan to Experience Super Blue Moon on August 19.”
This astronomical event will cause the moon to look larger and brighter than usual because it will be closer to Earth, and it will be visible across the globe, including in Pakistan.
A Supermoon happens when the moon’s orbit brings it closest to Earth, making it appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than normal. This month’s Supermoon is particularly significant as it coincides with a Blue Moon, a rare and historically intriguing event.
The term “Blue Moon” does not mean the moon will change color. It originated from a 19th-century volcanic eruption that caused atmospheric conditions to give the full moon a bluish tint. Since then, “Blue Moon” has referred to rare lunar events.
There are two types of Blue Moons: the Seasonal Blue Moon, which is the third full moon in a season with four full moons, and the Monthly Blue Moon, which is the second full moon in a calendar month. The upcoming moon on August 19 is a Seasonal Blue Moon and won’t occur again until 2037.
This event is part of a series of Supermoons happening from August through November 2024, offering multiple opportunities for enthusiasts to enjoy the moon’s splendor.
On August 19, the moon will be about 226,000 miles from Earth, providing a stunning view that will captivate observers across the country.
