Pakistan team to play World Cup matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Young talent joins experienced players as Pakistan prepares for its World Cup campaign in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan-(Special Correspondent/Web Desk)-The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named a 15-member national squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup, with all-rounder Fatima Sana confirmed as captain.

The same team will also play a three-match ODI series against South Africa in Lahore this September.

The World Cup will be played across India and Sri Lanka starting September 30. Pakistan will play all of its matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

New Faces and Leadership

At just 23 years old, Fatima Sana is set to lead the side in her second World Cup. She previously captained the team successfully during the qualifier tournament in Lahore.

The squad includes six players who will be experiencing their first ODI World Cup: Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, and Syeda Aroob Shah.

Uncapped batter Eyman Fatima, who recently made her T20I debut, has also been included in the ODI lineup.

Preparation and Reserves

The players will begin a rigorous 14-day training camp on August 29. This camp will include practice matches to prepare for the series against South Africa and the global tournament that follows.

The board also announced a list of five non-travelling reserve players: Gull Feroza, Najiha Alvi, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

Pakistan is the fourth team to announce its squad for the tournament, following announcements from Bangladesh, England, and India.
