Pakistan & Tajikistan Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Key Agreements

Leghari highlighted the strategic importance of Pakistan’s location for Tajik investments.

ISLAMABAD: The seventh meeting of the Pakistan-Tajikistan Joint Commission, held on Wednesday, marked a milestone with the signing of two historic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The agreements focus on enhancing cooperation between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tajikistan’s Khatlon province, as well as between the Pakistan and Tajikistan Football Federations.

The commission meeting, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Leghari and Tajikistan’s Minister for Energy and Water Resources Jum’a Daler Shofaqir, also emphasized increased collaboration in energy, trade, agriculture, education, and industry.

Leghari highlighted the strategic importance of Pakistan’s location for Tajik investments, while Shofaqir stressed the need for swift completion of the CASA-1000 energy project. Both ministers also discussed strengthening trade ties and addressing trade barriers, with plans for a business-to-business forum scheduled for December 13, 2024.

The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to deepening their partnership for regional prosperity.
