Pakistan Tajikistan Discuss Energy Cooperation in High-Level Meeting

Leghari, Tajik Energy Minister Review CASA-1000 Progress

Islamabad (Web Desk) – : Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari held a virtual meeting with Daler Juma, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on areas of mutual interest and explored avenues to deepen collaboration in power generation, transmission, and energy-related initiatives. Discussions centred on strengthening regional power connectivity, accelerating the implementation of ongoing joint projects, and identifying new opportunities for sustainable energy cooperation between the two countries.

Special focus was placed on reviewing progress of the CASA-1000 electricity transmission project, along with prospects for enhancing cross-border electricity trade. These initiatives aim to support long-term energy security while fostering regional economic integration.

The two ministers highlighted the importance of regional collaboration in addressing energy challenges and agreed that sustained engagement would help promote reliable, affordable, and sustainable power solutions. They reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination through relevant institutional channels to advance shared goals.

Both sides also stressed the need for regular dialogue and technical-level interaction to ensure timely follow-up on agreed decisions. It was agreed that closer cooperation would strengthen institutional linkages and contribute to long-term energy planning and development in both Pakistan and Tajikistan.

The meeting reflected the strong mutual commitment of Pakistan and Tajikistan to further deepen bilateral relations and work jointly toward progress and stability in the regional energy landscape.
