Pakistan Shocks Belgium in U19 Volleyball Championship Opener

ISLAMABAD: In a thrilling start to their FIVB U19 Boys’ World Volleyball Championship campaign, Pakistan kicked off a world-class dream for the young Green Shirts by defeating world No. 7 Belgium in straight sets.

Ranked 19th in the FIVB U19 world rankings, Pakistan came into the Pool A competition as underdogs, making their first appearance at this prestigious youth event. But in a powerful display of skill, discipline and self-confidence, they made their presence felt in the opening match, defeating a highly ranked Belgium team by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-22.

The victory is not only historic but also symbolic. For a nation still carving out its place in international volleyball, defeating a top-10 ranked opponent with such conviction would be a shock for the rest of the competition.

Pakistan’s junior team entered the U-19 Volleyball World Championship with high hopes, but expectations were low. Now, after their early win, there is renewed optimism about their prospects in the competition featuring 24 of the best youth teams from around the world.
