Pakistan Set to Drop Fast Bowler Aamir Jamal for Second Test Against South Africa

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to drop fast bowler Aamir Jamal for the upcoming second Test against South Africa, which is set to begin in Cape Town. According to sources, Aamir Jamal is likely to be replaced by left-arm fast bowler Mir Hamza, with the chances of left-arm spinner Nauman Ali featuring in the playing XI being slim.

Aamir Jamal, who hails from Mianwali, faced heavy criticism after his performance in the second innings of the Centurion Test, where he bowled just one over. As a result, the team management has made the decision to bring in Mir Hamza for the second Test.

Despite favorable conditions for spinners, there is little expectation for an inclusion of a spinner in the playing XI. Nauman Ali, who took 20 wickets at an average of 13.85 in the two Tests against England in October 2024, is not expected to be part of the final squad.

The team management is currently focused on all-rounder Salman Ali Agha as a potential spinning option. Agha, who has 16 wickets at an average of 58.75 from 18 Test matches, could be included in the team as a spin-bowling option.
