Pakistan Senate Passes Resolution Rejecting Indian Allegations

Dar expresses regret over Pakistan being blamed for tragic loss of tourists in Pahalgam

Islamabad-The Senate unanimously passed a resolution condemning India’s actions, firmly rejecting all of India’s allegations. The resolution reiterated Pakistan’s strong stance against terrorism in all its forms and affirmed the country’s commitment to responding decisively to any acts of aggression by India.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar presented the resolution, asserting that anyone who views Pakistan with ill intent should recognize the country’s full preparedness. He declared that cutting off water supplies would constitute an act of war.

During a regular Senate session chaired by Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, the resolution against Indian actions was passed.

The resolution asserted that Pakistan condemns all types of terrorism and will respond firmly to any Indian provocations, dismissing all accusations made by India.

The resolution calls for accountability for Indian terrorism globally, asserting that the Indian government is conducting a malicious campaign against Pakistan.

Dar expressed regret over Pakistan being blamed for the tragic loss of tourists in Pahalgam.

Moreover, Dar also firmly rejected India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, describing it as a lifeline for Pakistan’s 240 million people.

He announced the immediate closure of the Wagah border and the cancellation of visas for Indians under the SAARC scheme, except Sikh pilgrims. In response to the closure of the Attari border, Pakistan has decided to shut the Wagah border.

Dar stated that the defense attachés at the Indian High Commission have been declared undesirable, and the number of Indian High Commission staff will be reduced to 30.

He warned that cutting off water supplies would be akin to declaring war, predicting that future conflicts may revolve around water resources.

“All trade with India has been suspended, and a briefing was held for ambassadors from 26 countries at the Foreign Office,” he said.

He reiterated that any hostile action against Pakistan would be met with preparedness.

Dar remarked that it would be wise for India not to repeat its aggressive actions against Pakistan. If India does not back down, Pakistan will consider unilaterally terminating bilateral agreements. He noted that India’s obstinacy has rendered the SAARC organization inactive and mentioned his recent one-day visit to Afghanistan for detailed discussions with its leadership.

In the Senate, the opposition leader from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shibli Faraz, expressed that India has always sought ways to harm Pakistan.

He stated that the resolution sends a clear message to adversaries, emphasizing that India has never acknowledged Pakistan’s existence.

Faraz asserted that India’s attempts to defame Pakistan have failed, and it has consistently opposed Pakistan at every international forum without success.

He highlighted that India supported terrorism within Pakistan.

Faraz cited Kulbhushan Jadhav as a blatant example of Indian terrorism and pointed out the atrocities perpetrated by India in occupied Kashmir.

He noted that elections in Pakistan have often been controversial, with the 2024 elections expected to be the most disputed yet.

Unlike Pakistan, he remarked, there has been no record of election fraud allegations in India.

Pakistan People’s Party Senator Sherry Rehman addressed the Senate, highlighting the passage of an important resolution.

She emphasized that Pakistan is engaged in a fierce battle against terrorism and condemned the recent Pahalgam incident, noting that genocide has been ongoing in occupied Kashmir for years.

Senator Rehman stated that minorities in India are being marginalized and accused India of being complicit in the terrorism imposed on Pakistan.

She criticized India for violating human rights by using military force and for blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without evidence. Rehman asserted that Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism.

She further claimed that India is involved in terrorism within Pakistan, sponsoring terrorist groups, and labeled the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty as an act of water terrorism.

She insisted that all political parties in Pakistan stand united against India, sending a strong message of solidarity. Rehman also mentioned that Pakistan has apprehended Indian spies.

Following her remarks, the Chairman of the Senate adjourned the session until 4 PM on Monday.
