Pakistan Sees Surge in Social Media Usage, PTA Reveals Latest Statistics
Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released new data revealing a sharp increase in social media usage across the country, with millions of Pakistanis actively engaging on popular platforms as of January 2024.
According to the PTA’s updated report, Pakistan now has 60.4 million active users on Facebook, with a significant male user base making up 77% of the total, while female users comprise 24%. This dominance of male users is consistent across several platforms.
YouTube continues to see massive reach in Pakistan, with 71.7 million users in total. Of these, 72% are male, and 28% are female, demonstrating the platform’s wide appeal across the nation. TikTok also remains a top contender in the social media space, boasting 54.4 million users, of whom 78% are male and 22% female.
Instagram, though with a smaller audience in comparison, still shows a strong presence with 17.3 million users. The platform’s male user base is at 64%, while 36% of its users are female.

These statistics underscore the growing role of social media in Pakistan, with platforms like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram becoming integral parts of daily life for millions of people.
