Pakistan will face India in their next match, set to take place

Fatima Sana Leads Pakistan to 31-Run Victory Over Sri Lanka in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana played a pivotal role, contributing both with the bat (30 runs) and ball (2-10), to guide the team to a 31-run triumph against Sri Lanka in the second match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Sri Lanka, set a target of 117, struggled to reach 85-9 in their 20 overs. Only Nilakshika Silva (22) and Vishmi Gunaratne (20) showed resistance, but they couldn’t withstand Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack.

Sadia Iqbal led the bowling charge for Pakistan with figures of 3-17, while captain Fatima Sana (2-10), Nashra Sandhu (2-15), and Omaima Sohail (2-17) each took two wickets to stifle Sri Lanka’s chase.

Earlier, Pakistan, opting to bat, were bowled out for 116 on the final ball of their innings. The team had a shaky start, losing Gul Feroza early, which triggered a collapse. However, skipper Fatima Sana stepped up, scoring a vital 30 off 20 balls, helping Pakistan reach a defendable total. Nida Dar also contributed with 23 from 22 balls.

For Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu (3-18), Sugandika Kumari (3-19), and Udeshika Prabodhani (3-20) were the standout bowlers, each taking three wickets.

Fatima Sana was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance. Pakistan will face arch-rivals India in their next match on October 6 (Sunday).
