Pakistan Secures Semifinal Spot at Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025

JEONJU, South Korea — Pakistan’s youth girls netball team booked their place in the semifinals of the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025 after a hard-fought 49-39 victory over the Maldives in their fifth group-stage match at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium.
In a closely contested game, Pakistan maintained a narrow lead for most of the match. The team led 14-12 after the first quarter, trailed slightly 24-26 at halftime, but regained momentum in the third quarter at 35-32, before finishing strong to seal the win.
Key players such as Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, and Farah Rasheed delivered standout performances that proved crucial to Pakistan’s success.
Chairman of the Pakistan Netball Federation Mudassar Arian, President Sameen Malik, and Secretary General Muhammad Riaz lauded the team for their impressive display and congratulated them on progressing to the next stage.
With this victory, Pakistan topped Group B and will face Japan in the semifinal on Thursday, July 3. According to the Asian Netball Federation’s new format, the semifinals feature the top four teams from both divisions—Group A (Gold Cup Division) and Group B (Plate Cup Division)—with matchups based on rankings.

The championship, featuring eleven nations, runs from June 27 to July 4, 2025. Group A consists of Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and India, while Group B includes Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Maldives, and Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan opened the tournament with dominant wins, defeating Saudi Arabia 71-15, Chinese Taipei 56-32, South Korea 91-6, and Japan 79-39, before their latest win over the Maldives.
