Pakistan Secures Historic Test Series Victory Over England

Spinners Shine as Pakistan Wins 2-1 in First Home Series Triumph in Over Three Years

Rawalpindi-(Mudassar Iqbal): Pakistan clinched a thrilling 2-1 victory against England in a tightly contested three-match Test series, marking a long-awaited home win. The decisive match took place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, signifying Pakistan’s first Test series victory at home in over three and a half years.

The spinners led the charge for Pakistan, particularly during England’s second innings, where Noman Ali and Sajid Khan wreaked havoc. Noman took an impressive 6 wickets for just 42 runs, while Sajid added 4 wickets for 69 runs, reducing England to a mere 112 runs. This dismal performance left Pakistan needing only 36 runs to secure the series.

Resuming their second innings at 24-3, England quickly succumbed to Pakistan’s spin attack. Joe Root stood out as the only English batsman to make a significant contribution, scoring 33 runs amid a struggling lineup.

Pakistan lost the wicket of Saim Ayub but swiftly chased down the target in just 3.1 overs, with captain Shan Masood remaining unbeaten on 23.

Remarkably, Noman and Sajid claimed 19 of the 20 England wickets throughout the match, highlighting the spin-friendly conditions that left Pakistan’s only fast bowler, Aamir Jamal, unused.

Starting from 24-3 overnight, Harry Brook and Joe Root began their innings with optimism. However, Brook’s edge off Noman triggered a dramatic collapse, leading to England losing seven wickets for just 46 runs. Ben Stokes’ poor decision to play no shot and subsequently get out LBW to Noman, along with Jamie Smith’s reckless attempt to charge at Sajid, were particularly notable failures. Root’s departure for 33, after edging to Noman, effectively dashed England’s hopes of a comeback.
