Pakistan Secures Commanding Victory Against England in Second Test
Pakistan delivered a dominant performance against England on Friday, as their spinners dismantled the visitors’ batting order, securing a decisive victory at Multan Cricket Stadium and leveling the series at 1-1.
On Day 4 of the second Test, England resumed their innings at 36-2, hoping to chase down Pakistan’s target of 297 runs. The day started with Ollie Pope (21*) and Joe Root (12*) at the crease, but Pakistan struck early, with Pope dismissed for 22 soon after play resumed, becoming the third wicket to fall.
At this point, Pakistan needed just five more wickets to clinch the second Test victory, while England required 219 runs to win.
The previous day concluded with England at 36/2 after 11 overs as they attempted to chase Pakistan’s target. Pakistan had built a substantial lead of 296 runs, bolstered by Salman Agha’s 63 runs in their second innings.
In their first innings, Pakistan scored 366 runs, while England was bowled out for 291, leaving them with a deficit of 75 runs. Pakistan followed up with 221 runs in their second innings, with Salman Ali Agha contributing a vital 63 runs.
During England’s second innings, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett opened the batting but struggled to score runs. Crawley was dismissed for just three runs after Mohammad Rizwan took a quick catch, while Duckett was out for a duck, falling to Sajid Khan on the third ball of the first over.
Notably, Sajid Khan was outstanding with the ball, taking seven wickets, while Noman Ali claimed three wickets in England’s first innings.
