Saudi Arabia,Pakistan Sign Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement

Riyadh – On the gracious invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, embarked on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. The two leaders held a formal joint session with their respective delegations, during which they discussed the historic and strategic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his warm greetings and best wishes to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The discussions encompassed a wide range of topics of mutual interest, underscoring the deep brotherhood and Islamic solidarity that has defined the nearly eight decades of partnership between the two countries.

Highlighting the close strategic interests and robust defense cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (SMDA). This landmark agreement reflects the shared commitment of both nations to enhance their security and promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The agreement aims to strengthen defense cooperation and ensure joint protection against any act of aggression, stipulating that any hostile action against one country will be considered an aggression against both.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi leadership for their warm reception and generous hospitality extended to him and the Pakistani delegation. He also conveyed his best wishes for continued development, prosperity, and well-being of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia.
