DUBAI: Pakistan T20 cricket team captain Salman Agha has expressed confidence ahead of the high-stakes Super Four clash against India, stating that the team is ready to take on the challenge. Speaking after the recent match, Salman admitted that the team has not yet delivered its best performance but remains optimistic about upcoming games.
He praised fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, calling him a “match-winner,” and also lauded spinner Abrar Ahmed for his consistent bowling efforts in every match. Salman reaffirmed that the team is mentally and strategically prepared for the much-anticipated encounter against arch-rivals India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup.
The Pakistan vs India Super Four showdown is scheduled for Sunday, September 21. Both teams have already qualified for the next round from Group A, while India still has one group match remaining against Oman, set to be played tomorrow.
Group B has turned into a competitive race, with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh leading the table with four points each. Afghanistan sits in third place with two points but has a better net run rate than Bangladesh. If Afghanistan manages to defeat Sri Lanka in their next game, all three teams will be tied on points. In that case, net run rate will determine which two teams advance to the Super Four stage.
Earlier, Pakistan secured their place in the Super Four by defeating the UAE in a commanding performance, keeping their Asia Cup title hopes alive.
