Pakistan reach U-19 Asia Cup semi-final
Shamyl Hussain’s (54-ball 75 and 1-8) all-round brilliance paved the way for Pakistan U-19 to beat Afghanistan U-19 by 83 runs and seal the Asia Cup semi-final spot at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Tuesday.
DUBAI(M.Mudassar Idbal)-Pakistan on Tuesday defeated Afghanistan by 83 runs to enter the semi-finals of the U-19 Asia Cup 2023.
Afghanistan, while chasing a 304-run target, could manage only 220 in 48.4 overs.
For Pakistan, Ubaid Shah and Tayyab Arif took three wickets each.
Earlier, Pakistan posted a total of 303 against Afghanistan. Shamyl Hussain scored 75 while Shahzaib Khan scored 79. Apart from them, Mohammad Riazullah also score 7,
Chasing an imposing 303-run target, the Afghanistan U-19 were bundled out for 220. With the exception of Numan Shah (54 off 78), Wafiullah Tarakhil (32 off 34), Faridoon Dawoodzai (32 off 41), none of the Afghanistan batters managed to show resistance with the bat.
Khalid Taniwal (5), Jamshid Zadran (3), Rahimullah Zurmati (11), Allah Ghazanfar (16), and Khalel Ahmad (19) could not show any significant resistance with the bat.
Bashir Ahmad scored an unbeaten run-a-ball.
For Pakistan, Ubaid Shah (3-19) and Tayyab Arif (3-51) grabbed three wickets apiece.
Khubaib Khalil (2-45) bagged two wickets.
Shamyl Hussain (1-8) took merely four bowls to take a wicket.
Mohammad Zeeshan (0-23), Arafat Minhas (0-29) and Azan Awais (0-16) remained wicketless.
– PAKISTAN U-19’s INNINGS –
After being put into bat, Pakistan were absolutely brilliant with the bat. With the three top-order batters notched up a fifty apiece, Pakistan powered to 303, before being bowled out with two overs to spare.
In his 54-ball 75, Shamyl Hussain whacked seven boundaries and five sixes.
Shahzaib Khan clobbered nine boundaries and one six in a brilliant 95-ball 79.

Riaz Ullah played an enterprising 69-ball 73, lacing five boundaries and two sixes.
Other batters, Tayyab Arif (6), Arafat Minhas (4), Saad Baig (8), Mohammad Zeeshan (0), Azan Awais (20), Amir Hassan (8), Khubaib Khalil (3) could not manage significant resistance with the bat.
Ubaid Shah remained unconquered on run-a-ball 1.
Faridon Dawoodzai (3-49) and Bashir Ahmad (3-51) shared three wickets apiece.
Naseer Khan Maroofkhil (2-44) and Khalel Ahmad (2-69) took two wickets apiece.
Allah Ghazanfar (0-51), Wafiullah Tarakhil (0-24) and Rahimullah Zurmati (0-14) remained wicketless.
