Anwarul Haq Hails PAF, Calls for Strengthening Civil Defence Along LoC
Khuiratta / Fatehpur Thakiala-Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, has praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for delivering a decisive and powerful response to India’s recent military aggression along the Line of Control (LoC). Speaking to journalists at Abdali House after visiting areas affected by Indian shelling, the Prime Minister described the response as a historic victory and a moment of national pride. He said that Pakistan, despite its smaller size, not only defeated a larger adversary but also reaffirmed its status as a responsible nuclear power on the international stage.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this success should now be used to give new momentum to the ongoing freedom movement and take it to its logical conclusion. He warned the Indian government of serious consequences if it continued its aggressive policies or attempted any further misadventures. Referring to the ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, he said the agreement presents a unique opportunity for both nuclear-armed countries to resolve their issues through dialogue and diplomacy and to work toward lasting peace in the region.
During his visit to the shelling-affected areas near the LoC, the Prime Minister announced that the damaged infrastructure would be rebuilt as soon as possible. At Fatehpur Thakiala, he offered Fateha at the graves of martyrs and expressed heartfelt condolences to their families. He also visited the Government Postgraduate College Fatehpur Thakiala, which was partially damaged by Indian shelling, and inspected the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, whose building had been targeted. While visiting the hospital, he toured various wards and received a briefing on the available medical facilities and administrative issues. He issued immediate orders to install a biometric attendance system and link it with the monitoring department of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat by the following Monday. He urged doctors and staff to fulfill their responsibilities with integrity and emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated.
During his visit to Khuiratta, the Prime Minister distributed relief cheques to families affected by the Indian shelling. Beneficiaries included Hina Shahzad, Furqan Ali, Imtiaz Siddique, Afrasalman, Tahira Salman, Zunaiba (wife of Shoaib Salman), Zunaisha Salman, Haroon Banaras, Banaras (son of Karamdad), Shabbir Hussain, Hawaldar Muhammad Rafiq, Shagfta Ijaz, Fatima Begum, Abdul Rauf, Ayesha Khalid, Gulfraz Taj, Zeeshan, and Wahab Basharat. Cheques were also distributed to the heirs of martyrs in Ghora, Bandli, Union Council Seri, and Bharot Gala.
In Kotli, the Prime Minister met with the families of two martyrs from Thalalot and visited the family of 13-year-old Ehtesham Arshad, who was martyred in recent shelling. He offered condolences and announced that the Middle School in Jatheri Thalalot would be named after Shaheed Ehtesham. He also visited the family of Kaniz Fatima, who was martyred in Indian shelling in Thalalot, and expressed deep sympathy.
The Prime Minister announced that the government would increase the compensation amount for the heirs of martyrs to Rs. 10 million. He stressed the urgent need to activate the civil defense system in areas close to the LoC to better prepare for future emergencies. He also noted that the government had refrained from imposing new taxes in the latest budget and was focused on good governance. He highlighted efforts made in recent years to dismantle mafias, curb corruption, and improve service delivery across the region.
Chaudhry Anwarul Haq was accompanied during his visits by Senior Minister Waqar Ahmed Noor, Minister of Health Dr. Nisar Ansar Abdali, Minister for Higher Education Zafar Iqbal Malik, Minister for Rehabilitation Chaudhry Javed Badhanvi, Presidential Advisor Chaudhry Muhammad Mehboob Advocate, Mayor Chaudhry Muhammad Raj, Councilor Chaudhry Tohid, as well as senior local officials including the District Health Officer, Medical Superintendent, and Assistant Commissioner Nikyal Seemab Aslam.
