Pak Navy PNS Yarmook Seizes $972M Illegal Drugs in Arabian Sea Operation

Pakistan Navy seizes nearly one billion dollars in illegal drugs during a major operation at sea.

Arabian Sea – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – A Pakistan Navy ship, the PNS Yarmook, successfully captured illegal drugs with a total value of over $972 million. The operation took place in the Arabian Sea, where the crew stopped two sailboats. This action was part of a larger international naval effort.

The ship was working directly with a task force led by Saudi Arabia. Within just two days, the crew boarded the first sailboat and found more than two tons of a drug called crystal meth. This first seizure was valued at over $822 million.

Less than two days later, the crew stopped a second sailboat. On this boat, they found another 350 kilograms of crystal meth and 50 kilograms of cocaine. The combined drugs from this second stop were worth $150 million.

After the drugs were found, they were taken back to the navy ship. The crew tested the substances to confirm what they were and then safely disposed of them. The sailboats were identified as not belonging to any specific country.

A senior commander from the Saudi Navy called this one of the most successful drug busts ever for the international force. He stressed that the operation shows how important it is for countries to work together.

The Pakistan Navy also released a statement. They said this great achievement shows their strong promise to keep the seas safe and to fight against illegal trafficking. It confirms Pakistan’s active role as a responsible partner for peace in the Indian Ocean region.

Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff praised the ship’s crew for their skill and hard work. He stated that the Navy is committed to protecting national interests and contributing to global security through teamwork. He also noted that this joint mission with the Saudi-led task force will help strengthen the defense relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The United States Central Command congratulated the international naval partnership online. This group includes 47 countries and works to stop the smuggling of drugs and weapons across millions of miles of ocean.

The PNS Yarmook is a modern warship capable of electronic warfare and defense. It joined the Pakistan Navy fleet in 2020. The ship has also been involved in rescue missions, like helping Iranian fishermen whose boat caught fire last year. It continues to help protect merchant ships in the Indian Ocean.
