Pakistan Navy launches Operation Muhafiz-ul-Bahr to protect shipping
Pakistan Navy moves to secure sea trade and energy routes as regional risks rise.
Pakistan – (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Navy has started Operation Muhafiz ul Bahr to protect the country’s ships and sea trade. The step comes as security concerns in the region continue to grow. The update was shared by the Inter-Services Public Relations in a statement on Monday.
The operation aims to keep Pakistan’s energy supplies moving without interruption. It also focuses on protecting the key sea routes called Sea Lines of Communication, which are vital for trade and shipping.
Naval ships are also escorting cargo vessels to make their journey safer. This work is being done with the support of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation to keep maritime trade running smoothly.
The Navy said it is closely watching the situation at sea. It is also monitoring the movement of merchant ships to make sure they travel safely through regional waters.
Nearly 90 percent of Pakistan’s trade moves through sea routes. Because of this, the operation is meant to keep these routes open and secure. At present, Pakistan Navy ships are escorting two merchant vessels. One of them is expected to reach Karachi today.
