Pakistan – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Pakistan’s playing XI for the first Test against South Africa has been finalized, according to reports. The team management has chosen a balanced lineup of seven specialized hitters, two spinners, and two fast bowlers.
According to experts, left-arm spinner Asif Afridi is set to make his Test debut, a huge milestone in his career. The inclusion underscores the selectors’ belief in his domestic performance and the spin-friendly conditions expected in the series opener.
The final line-up contains Pakistan’s top batting names, with Abdullah Shafiq, Imam-ul-Haq, and Shan Masood anchoring the top order and Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, and Muhammad Rizwan strengthening the middle order.
The management’s decision to retain these established names underscores the emphasis on batting stability and experience against a strong South African bowling attack.
Alongside the probable debutant Asif Afridi, Noman Ali has been confirmed as the second spinner in the squad, offering variety and control in the spin department.

- Abdul Majeed has been appointed fielding coach.
This reshuffled management team will oversee the two-match Test series, aimed at revitalizing Pakistan’s red-ball strategy and performance.
The first Test match between Pakistan and South Africa will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, starting October 12.
The second Test will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium beginning October 20. The series is expected to be a key part of Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming World Test Championship cycle.
