Pakistan Marks 149th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam with National Tributes

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued special messages on the occasion.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is observing the 149th birth anniversary of its founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, today with reverence and respect across the country.

Special ceremonies are being held in Karachi and other cities to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation. A change of guard ceremony took place at Mazar-e-Quaid, where smartly turned-out contingents of the Pakistan Army presented a salute and offered fateha. The Pakistan Military Academy Kakul assumed guard duties at the mausoleum. Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhry, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), was the chief guest at the ceremony.

Seminars, conferences, and commemorative events are also being organized nationwide to honor Quaid-e-Azam’s historic struggle for a free and sovereign homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent. Speakers are highlighting his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment that turned the dream of Pakistan into reality, guided by the principles of faith, unity, and discipline.

President Zardari urged the nation to renew its commitment to the democratic and inclusive values laid down by Quaid-e-Azam, stating that his leadership and vision continue to guide Pakistan in addressing present-day challenges. He emphasized that the principles of democracy, justice, and equality should remain central to state institutions and decision-making, particularly inspiring the youth to follow Quaid’s ideals.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to Quaid-e-Azam, noting that he taught principles of religious harmony, social tolerance, justice, and equality without discrimination. He said that the golden principles of faith, unity, and discipline are a guarantee of a bright national future, adding that Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday serves as an annual occasion for national renewal and reflection on his struggle for an independent, sovereign, and welfare-oriented state.
