ISLAMBAD: Pakistan’s U19 volleyball team continued their impressive run at the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship with another commanding straight-sets victory over hosts Uzbekistan.

In a battle of the two undefeated teams, it was the Green Shirts who emerged victorious with a 3-0 scoreline (25-23, 25-18, 25-21) to not only silence a passionate home crowd but also reinforce Pakistan’s growing presence in world youth volleyball.

Led by their inspirational captain and opposite hitter Muhammad Yahya, who delivered 24 points with a mix of power, placement, and poise, Pakistan reclaimed their place at the top of Pool A with two wins from two matches.

Commenting after the win, Yahya underlined his team’s progress.

“I remember playing against them before, at the U16 level,” Yahya said after the win. “They had a big crowd then too, and they beat us. So, this time, we wanted to play smart, follow the game plan and take the win.”

The performance was not just a moment of personal triumph—it underscored a wider transformation within Pakistan volleyball. Just a few years ago, the national youth setup was far from the world stage. Now, it’s competing with the best at the FIVB U19 World Championship and delivering results under pressure, even in challenging away conditions.

Behind his steady performances lies a system that’s beginning to bear fruit. “Three or four years ago, we were not at this level,” Yahya said. “Now the management is working hard, preparing players in youth, junior, and senior categories. We are building strong teams, and we are proud of that.”
